DIM

by admin_amy | Published June 14, 2015

The compounds from cruciferous vegetables (Broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts) are called indole-3-carbinols (I3C)  which convert into dindolymethane (DIM). These compounds have been found to alter estrogen metabolism in both men and women which protect against hormone dependent cancers of the breast, cervix, and prostate. But that’s not all. Even colon cancer prevention has been recorded with these compounds. This happens when DIM and I3C stop the growth of new blood vessels that tumors require for their survival and metastasis (spread). You would have to eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables to get this benefit, but it is still very beneficial to eat as many cruciferous vegetables as you possibly can!
