Magnesium

Did you know a deficiency of magnesium can cause chocolate cravings? Magnesium deficiency is a commonly overlooked risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Because of magnesium’s powerful impact on the heart, taking magnesium  can have a positive impact on arrhythmias, hypertension,or athersclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Magnesium also effects the electrical activity of the heart, nerves, muscles, and all of our blood vessels (blood pressure).  Magnesium is also involved in keeping our bones strong so it is recommended for osteoporosis or osteopenia. A deficiency often leads to constipation, so to see if magnesium may help, start with a 500 mg dose and gradually increase till bowels move easily.
