Melatonin

by admin_amy | Published June 15, 2015

Melatonin is best known for it’s ability to help anyone get a good nights sleep. It’s considered the”Sleep Hormone”, but the real benefit is that it is shown to extend lifespan in those that take it. Melatonin, a hormone, decreases with age as all hormones do. That’s why elderly people “don’t need as much sleep”. They need it, they just don’t have enough of the sleep hormone melatonin to help them get enough. We need melatonin for brain function (memory and clarity of thinking). It boosts our immunity and suppresses inflammation. A good nights sleep can also prevent weight gain! Dosages of melatonin vary from 3 mg to 60 mg depending on your age and your need.
