L-Tryptophan is an amino acid effects our serotonin, which is our “feel-good” hormone. Serotonin, or lack of L-Tryptophan in our diet can effect mood, pain, addictive behaviors, memory, and increased aggression. When serotonin levels are normalized, it can positively effect irritability, stress, grumpiness and anxiety that is common with aging. Sleep disorders ( insomnia), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), depression. post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicidal thinking have all been traced to a deficiency of tryptophan. These are just a few of the things serotonin effects and serotonin is enhanced by L-Tryptophan. Our body needs Amino Acids to function at the very best.
